TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>The little Squirrell, hath no other Food<lb/>
Then that which Natures thrifty hand provides;<lb/>
And, in purveying up and downe the Wood,<lb/>
She many cold wet Stormes, for that, abides.<lb/>
She lyes not heartlesse in her Mossie Dray,<lb/>
Nor feareth to adventure through the Raine;<lb/>
But skippeth out, and beares it as she may,<lb/>
Vntill the Season waxeth calme againe.<lb/>
Right thus, have I and others, often far'd;<lb/>
For, when we first into the World were brought,<lb/>
We found but little, for our Vse prepar'd,<lb/>
Save that, which by Hard-Labour, must be sought.<lb/>
In many Stormes, unheeded, we are faine<lb/>
To seeke out needfull things; and, smilingly<lb/>
To jest, at what some others would complaine:<lb/>
That, none might laugh at our Necessity.<lb/>
Yea, some have liv'd on Huskes, whil'st others fed<lb/>
On that which was their Labours due Reward;<lb/>
And, were pursu'd (till they almost were dead)<lb/>
Without the Worlds Compassion or Regard.<lb/>
Yet, by Enduring, they out-liv'd the Blast<lb/>
Of Adverse-Fortune; and, with good successe,<lb/>
(Expecting calmer Seasons) at the last,<lb/>
Arrived at the Port of Happinesse.<lb/>
Their Suffring-much, hath made their Suffrings none;<lb/>
And brought forth Hopes, by which, perceive they may,<lb/>
That Nights have but their Turnes; and (they once gone)<lb/>
Their Darkenesse, makes much welcomer, the Day.<lb/>
All Griefe shall have an ending, I am sure;<lb/>
And, therefore, I with Patience, will Endure.<lb/>
                            </p>
