TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>Let no man be so sottish as to dreame,<lb/>
                                Though all Men in their Death made equall are,<lb/>
                                That, therfore, they may gather by this Theame,<lb/>
                                That, Parity, in Life-time, fitting were.<lb/>
                                For, as the Bodies Members (which in Death<lb/>
                                Have all the like esteeme) had their Degrees,<lb/>
                                And Honours, differing in time of breath;<lb/>
                                The same (in States) Discretion comely sees.<lb/>
                                Nor, should we hence inferre, that it were just<lb/>
                                To disesteeme the breathlesse Carcasses<lb/>
                                Of Kings and Princes, when they sleepe in Dust;<lb/>
                                For, Civill-Reverence is due to these.<lb/>
                                Nor, ought we, in their Life-time, to apply<lb/>
                                The Truth, which by this Emblem is declar'd,<lb/>
                                The Dignities of Men to vilifie;<lb/>
                                Or, bring upon their Persons lesse regard.<lb/>
                                That, which from hence, I rather wish to preach,<lb/>
                                Is this; that ev'ry Man of each degree,<lb/>
                                Would marke it so, that he, himselfe might teach<lb/>
                                What thoughts and deeds, to him most proper be.<lb/>
                                If he be great; let him remember, then,<lb/>
                                That (since, nor Wealth, nor Title, can procure him<lb/>
                                Exemption from the Doomes of other Men)<lb/>
                                He ought to seeke, how Vertue may secure him.<lb/>
                                If he be Poore; let him this Comfort take,<lb/>
                                That, though, awhile, he be afflicted here,<lb/>
                                Yet, Death may him as fully happy make,<lb/>
                                As he, that doth a Crowne Imperiall weare.<lb/>
                                For, when his Fatall-blow, Death comes to strike,<lb/>
                                He, makes the Beggar, and the King, alike.<lb/>
