<p>In this our Emblem, you shall finde exprest<lb/> A Man, incountring with a Salvage-beast ;<lb/> And, he resolveth (as his Motto sayes)<lb/> To live with honour ; or, to dye with praise.<lb/> I like the Resolution, and the Deed,<lb/> In which, this Figure teacheth to proceed.<lb/> For, us, me thinkes, it counselleth, to doe,<lb/> An act, which all men are oblig'd unto.<lb/> That ugly Bore (wherewith the man in strife<lb/> Here seemes to be) doth meane a Swinish-life,<lb/> And, all those beastly Vices, that assay<lb/> To root becomming Vertues quite away;<lb/> Those Vices, which not onely marre our features,<lb/> But, also, ruinate our manly natures.<lb/> The harmefull fury, of this raging Bore,<lb/> Oppose couragiously, lest more and more,<lb/> It get within you; and, at last, appeare<lb/> More prevalent, then your defences are.<lb/> It is a large-growne Pig, of that wilde Swine,<lb/> Which, ev'ry day, attempts to undermine<lb/> Our Safeties Fort: Twas he, which long agoe,<lb/> Did seeke the Holy-Vineyards overthrow:<lb/> And, if we charge him not with all our power,<lb/> The Sire, or hee, will enter and devoure.<lb/> But, what's our strength, O Lord! or, what are wee<lb/> In such a Combate, without ayde from thee?<lb/> Oh, come to helpe us, therefore, in this Fight;<lb/> And, let us be inabled in thy might:<lb/> So, we shall both in life-time, Conquests have;<lb/> And, be victorious, also, in the Grave. </p>
