                                (And, what the Motto round about it sayes)<lb/>
                                Your Apprehension's eye, may partly see<lb/>
                                What constant Vertues, in true Knowledge be.<lb/>
                                For, if right plac'd it be, it ever will<lb/>
                                Continue in the same condition, still:<lb/>
                                And, though it make mens manners to be chang'd;<lb/>
                                Yet, never is it, from it selfe, estrang'd:<lb/>
                                Nor doth, nor can it, cease to be a Friend,<lb/>
                                What Fate soever, shall on us attend.<lb/>
                                When Wealth is lost, or faileth to besteed us;<lb/>
                                Shee findes out honest meanes to cloath and feede us.<lb/>
                                In farre, and forraigne Lands, shee will become,<lb/>
                                As kinde, and as familiar, as at home;<lb/>
                                And, travelleth, without the costly cumber,<lb/>
                                Of Carriages, or Clokebagges full of Lumber.<lb/>
                                No Place can from our presence, her enclose;<lb/>
                                Nor is she frighted from us by our Foes.<lb/>
                                No Pickthankes, of her Favours, can bereave us;<lb/>
                                No Promises, can woo her to deceive us.<lb/>
                                In Youth, in Age, in Sickenesse, and in Griefe,<lb/>
                                Shee bringeth Consolation and reliefe:<lb/>
                                And, is in all estates, a blessing to us,<lb/>
                                So constant (and so apt, all helpes to doe us)<lb/>
                                That, he for whom, such Knowledge, God provideth,<lb/>
                                Enjoyes a Friend, that alwaies firme abideth.<lb/>
                                Lord, I am friendlesse left; therefore, to me,<lb/>
                                This Knowledge, and this Friend, vouchsafe to bee:<lb/>
                                For, thou that Wisdome art, (from heav'n descending)<lb/>
                                Which, neither hath beginning, change, nor ending.<lb/>
