<p>Long since, the sacred Hebrew Lyrick sayd,<lb/> (A Truth, which never justly was denayd)<lb/> That, All the world is God's ; and that his hands<lb/> Enclose the limits of the farthest Lands.<lb/> The selfe same Truth affirmes, that likewise, there,<lb/> By him, their clodds, and furrowes watred are,<lb/> And, that with dewes and showres, he doth so blesse<lb/> The dwellings of the barren Wildernesse,<lb/> That, those Inhabitants (whom some conceiv'd,<lb/> Of usefull, and all pleasant things bereav'd)<lb/> Their labors, with advantage, doe employ,<lb/> And, fetch their yearely Harvests home, with joy.<lb/> Why then should wee, that in God's Vineyard live,<lb/> Distrust that all things needfull hee will give?<lb/> Why should his Garden doubt of what it needs,<lb/> Since hee oft waters barren Rocks and Weeds ?<lb/> Why should his Children, live in slavish feare,<lb/> Since hee is kind to those that strangers are?<lb/> Or, whither from his presence, can we flie,<lb/> To whom the furthest hiding-place is nigh.<lb/> And, if I may, from lower objects clime,<lb/> (To questioning, in matters more sublime)<lb/> Why should I thinke, the Soule shall not bee fed,<lb/> Where God affoords, to Flesh, her daily Bread ?<lb/> Or, dreame, that hee, for some, provided none,<lb/> Because, on us, much Mercie is bestowne?<lb/> 'Tis true enough, that Hell devoureth all,<lb/> Who shall be found without the Churches pale;<lb/> But, how farre that extends, no Eye can see,<lb/> Since, in Gods hands, Earth's farthest Corners bee.<lb/> </p>
