                                That, as these kinde of Shell-fish backward goe,<lb/>
                                So now the World, (which here doth seeme to take<lb/>
                                An arseward Iourney on the Cancer's backe)<lb/>
                                Moves counterwise; as if delight it had,<lb/>
                                To runne a race, in Courses retrograde :<lb/>
                                And, that, is very likely to be true,<lb/>
                                Which, this our Emblem, purposeth to shew.<lb/>
                                For, I have now, of late, not onely seene,<lb/>
                                What backward motions, in my Friends have beene;<lb/>
                                And, that my outward Fortunes and Affaires,<lb/>
                                Doe of themselves, come tumbling downe the staires:<lb/>
                                But, I have also found, that other things,<lb/>
                                Have got a wheeling in contrary Rings ;<lb/>
                                Which Regresse, holding on, 'tis like that wee,<lb/>
                                To Iewes, or Ethnicks, backe shall turned bee.<lb/>
                                Some punie Clerkes, presume that they can teach<lb/>
                                The ancient holy Doctors, how to preach.<lb/>
                                Some Laicks, learne their Pastors how to pray.<lb/>
                                Some Parents, are compelled to obay<lb/>
                                Their Sonnes ; and, so their Dignitie to lose,<lb/>
                                As to be fed and cloth'd, at their dispose.<lb/>
                                Nay, wee have some, who have assay'd to draw,<lb/>
                                All backward, to the Bondage of the Law ;<lb/>
                                Ev'n to those abrogated Rites and Dayes,<lb/>
                                By which, the wandring Iew markes out his wayes.<lb/>
                                And, to pursue this Round, they are so heady,<lb/>
                                That, they have made themselves, and others giddy.<lb/>
                                Doe thou, these froward Motions, Lord, restraine,<lb/>
                                And, set the World in her due course againe.<lb/>
