TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>Looke well, I pray, upon this Beldame, here,<lb/>
                                For, in her habit, though shee gay appeare,<lb/>
                                You, through her youthfull vizard, may espy<lb/>
                                Shee's of an old Edition, by her Eye :<lb/>
                                And, by her wainscot face, it may bee seene,<lb/>
                                Shee might your Grandams first dry-nurse have been.<lb/>
                                This is an Emblem, fitly shaddowing those,<lb/>
                                Who making faire, and honest outward showes,<lb/>
                                Are inwardly deform'd; and, nothing such,<lb/>
                                As they to bee suppos'd, have strived much.<lb/>
                                They chuse their words, and play well-acted parts,<lb/>
                                But, hide most loathsome projects in their hearts;<lb/>
                                And, when you think sweet Friendship to embrace,<lb/>
                                Some ugly Treason, meets you in the face.<lb/>
                                I have a painted Brow ; I much dislike<lb/>
                                A Mayden-blush, dawb'd on a furrowed Cheeke :<lb/>
                                And, I abhorre to see old Wantons play,<lb/>
                                And, suite themselves, like Ladies of the May.<lb/>
                                But, more (yea, most of all) my soule despiseth<lb/>
                                A Heart, that in Religious formes, disguiseth<lb/>
                                Prophane intentions; and arrayes in white,<lb/>
                                The coale-blacke conscience of an Hypocrite.<lb/>
                                Take heed of such as these; and, (if you may)<lb/>
                                Before you trust them, tract them in their way.<lb/>
                                Observe their footsteps, in their private path :<lb/>
                                For, these (as 'tis beleev'd, the Devill hath)<lb/>
                                Have cloven feet ; that is, two wayes they goe;<lb/>
                                One for their ends, and tother for a show.<lb/>
                                Now, you thus warned are, advise embrace;<lb/>
                                And, trust nor gawdy Clothes, nor painted Face.<lb/>
