TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>That's Love in earnest, which is constant found,<lb/>
                                When Friends are in Affliction, or in Bands ;<lb/>
                                And, their Affection merits to be crown'd,<lb/>
                                Whose hearts are fastned where they joyne their hands.<lb/>
                                Tis easie to be friendly, where wee see<lb/>
                                A Complement or two will serve the turne;<lb/>
                                Or, where the kindnesse may requited bee;<lb/>
                                Or, when the charge is with a trifle borne.<lb/>
                                It is as easie too, for him to spend<lb/>
                                At once, the full Revenues of a yeare,<lb/>
                                In Cates, for entertainment of his Friend,<lb/>
                                Who thinkes his glorie, is expensive-cheere :<lb/>
                                For, 'tis his pleasure; and, if none should come<lb/>
                                Like fashionable-Friends, for him to court,<lb/>
                                Hee would with Rogues, and Canters, fill the Roome,<lb/>
                                Or, such as should abuse, and flout him for't.<lb/>
                                But, hard it is, to suffer, or to spend<lb/>
                                For him (though worthy) that's of meane estate,<lb/>
                                Unlikely our occasions to befriend,<lb/>
                                Or, one unable to remunerate.<lb/>
                                Few men are liberall, whom neither Lust,<lb/>
                                Vaine glorie, Prodigalitie, nor Pride,<lb/>
                                Doth forward into foolish Bountie thrust;<lb/>
                                As may, by Observation bee espide.<lb/>
                                For, when a slender Bountie would relieve<lb/>
                                Their vertuous Friend, whose wants to them are knowne,<lb/>
                                To their Buffoone, a Knights estate they'l give;<lb/>
                                And, thinke on t'other trifles ill-bestowne.<lb/>
                                Yet, this Ile say; and, give the Devill his due;<lb/>
                                These Friends, are to their lusts, and humours, true.<lb/>
