TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>The Barrell, from whose bottome, sides, and bung,<lb/>
                                The liquor (as in this our Emblem ) flowes,<lb/>
                                May fitly typifie the babling Tongue,<lb/>
                                Of him that utters ev'ry thing hee knowes.<lb/>
                                For, such as are their taskes, who strive to fill<lb/>
                                An ever-leaking Vessell, to the brim;<lb/>
                                Ev'n such are his, who laboureth to still<lb/>
                                A tatlers tongue; for, paines are lost on him.<lb/>
                                This Figure, also, serveth to expresse,<lb/>
                                The trustlesse nature of a whorish woman ;<lb/>
                                For, shee to all displayes her wantonnesse,<lb/>
                                And, cares to keepe her secresies, from no man.<lb/>
                                Within her bosome, nothing long shee keeps,<lb/>
                                But, whatsoever shee conceives or knowes,<lb/>
                                Streight, from the heart, up to her tongue, it creeps;<lb/>
                                And, round about the Citie, then, it goes.<lb/>
                                Bee warned therefore, and commit thou not<lb/>
                                Thy person, state, or fame, to such as these;<lb/>
                                Lest, they thy Reputation doe bespot,<lb/>
                                Consume thy Substance, or thy Minde disease.<lb/>
                                But, most of all, bee wary, lest the crime,<lb/>
                                Which here wee doe reproove, thy mind infect:<lb/>
                                For, Vice, like weeds, will grow in little time,<lb/>
                                And, out-grow Vertues, if wee them neglect.<lb/>
                                The surest way to keepe such errors out,<lb/>
                                And, in our selves true Vertnes to maintaine;<lb/>
                                Is, to bee hoopt with Temp'rance, round about,<lb/>
                                And, our out-flowing humors to restraine.<lb/>
                                If thus we practise, 'twill prevent the wrongs<lb/>
                                Of our owne errors, and of others tongues.<lb/>
