TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>This Figure warnes us, that wee meddle not<lb/>
                                With matters, whereby nothing may bee got,<lb/>
                                Save harme or losse ; and, such as once begun,<lb/>
                                Wee may, nor safely doe, nor leave undone.<lb/>
                                I should bee loath to meddle in the strife<lb/>
                                Arising 'twixt a Husband, and his Wife ;<lb/>
                                For, Truth conceal'd, or spoke, on either side,<lb/>
                                May one or th'other grieve, or both divide.<lb/>
                                I would not with my most familiar Mate,<lb/>
                                Be Partner in the whole of my estate;<lb/>
                                Lest I, by others errors, might offend,<lb/>
                                Or, wrong my Family, or, lose my Friend.<lb/>
                                I would not, willingly, in my distresse,<lb/>
                                From an unworthy hand, receive redresse;<lb/>
                                Nor, when I need a Suretie, would I call<lb/>
                                An Vnthrist, or a roaring Prodigall :<lb/>
                                For, either these I thanklesly must shun,<lb/>

                                I would not heare my Friend unwisely prate<lb/>
                                Those things, of which I must informe the State :<lb/>
                                And, seeme unfriendly; or, else leave to doe,<lb/>
                                That, which a stronger Band obligeth to.<lb/>
                                Nor would I, for the world, my heart should bee<lb/>
                                Enthrald by one, that might not marry mee;<lb/>
                                Or, such like passions, bee perplexed in,<lb/>
                                As hang betwixt a Vertue, and a Stune ;<lb/>
                                Or, such, as whether way soe're I went,<lb/>
                                Occasion'd guilt, or shame, or discontent:<lb/>
                                For, howsoe're wee mannage such like things,<lb/>
                                Wee handle winding Vipers, that have stings.<lb/>
