TEXT_EXPL_XML <p>Some say, (and many men doe these commend)<lb/>
                                That, all our deeds, and Fortunes doe depend<lb/>
                                Vpon the motions of celestiall Sphere ;<lb/>
                                And, on the constellations of the Starres.<lb/>
                                If this were true, the Starres, alone, have bin<lb/>
                                Prime cause of all that's good, and of all sinne.<lb/>
                                And, 'twere (me thinkes) injustice to condemne,<lb/>
                                Or, give rewards to any, but to them.<lb/>
                                For, if they made mee sinne, why for that ill,<lb/>
                                Should I be damn'd, and they shine brightly, still?<lb/>
                                If they inforc'd my goodnesse, why should I<lb/>
                                Bee glorified for their Pietie ?<lb/>
                                And, if they neither good nor ill constraine,<lb/>
                                Why then, should wee of Destinie complaine?<lb/>
                                For, if it bee (as tis) absurd to say,<lb/>
                                The starres enforce us (since they still obay<lb/>
                                Their just Commander ) 'twere absurder, farre,<lb/>
                                To say, or thinke, that God's Decree it were,<lb/>
                                Which did necessitate the very same,<lb/>
                                For which, we thinke the starres might merit blame.<lb/>
                                Hee made the starres to bee an ayd unto us,<lb/>
                                Not (as is fondly dream'd) to helpe undoe us:<lb/>
                                (Much lesse, without our fault, to ruinate,<lb/>
                                By doome of irrecoverable Fate )<lb/>
                                And, if our good Endeavors, use wee will,<lb/>
                                Those glorious creatures will be helpfull still<lb/>
                                In all our honest wayes: For, they doe stand<lb/>
                                To helpe, not hinder us, in God's command;<lb/>
                                And, hee not onely rules them by his pow'rs,<lb/>
                                But, makes their Glory, servant unto ours.<lb/>
